There are a couple of methods to get the paper released from the wall; chemical strippers or steam. A chemical wallpaper remover needs to be applied over the entire surface that has been scored. When doing this make sure you protect your eyes and wear rubber gloves. Apply the chemical with a wide brush or a paint sprayer. Using an inexpensive spray attachment to the garden hose is ideal. Regardless of how you apply it, make sure the windows are open to maintain air circulation. Let the chemical sit until the paper is saturated.

If you prefer to avoid chemicals a wallpaper steamer can usually be rented for the day. Follow the directions that come with the machine and you will accomplish the same end result but avoid chemicals.

Once the wall paper in Honolulu, HI is saturated the paste will have softened. When it reaches this stage it is a simple matter to scrape the paper from the walls. Use a wide putty knife for scraping but try not to nick the walls, use long gentle strokes for the best results. If you find an area where the paper continues to cling, then apply more chemical or steam the spot again.

The walls will need to be washed with a strong detergent to get the remaining paste residue off, once the glue is removed just wipe the walls down with a dry cloth.
